Prerequisites
Students who attend this course must have experience with the Cisco or IOS command line and must meet the following prerequisites:
Session Objectives
- Identify how Cisco IPS protects network devices from attacks.
- Install an IPS sensor appliance in the network & initialise it. Use IDM to configure basic sensor settings.
- Configure IDM to in built signatures to meet requirements of security policy.
- Tune & create signatures to meet chosen requirements of given security policy.
- Be able to use IDM to tune a sensor to work optimally in the network.
- Use the Monitoring Centre for Security & Cisco Threat Response to maximize alarm management efficiency.
- Explain blocking concepts and use IDM to configure blocking for any set example.
- Install NM-CIDS in a router & initialise it.
- Install the Module into a Cisco Catalyst 6500 Switch & initialise it.
- Install & recover sensor software image and perform service pack and signature updates.
- Use CLI & IDM to verify system configuration.
