This course is an introduction to the signalling prootcol known as H.323.

Course Goal

After completing this course you will have acquired a working knowledge of H.323.
H.323 operates in the popularly called Next-Generation-Network in which the
key is Voice over IP (VoIP). You will learn and recognize the terminology of H.323.
You will realize why such a protocol is necessary and be able to:
Describe its use and operation.

  • Describe the ASN.1 definition of H.323
  • Analyze H.323 messages using ASN.1
  • Recognize the purpose/function of the H.323 Gateway
  • Recognize the purpose/function of the H.323 Gatekeeper
  • Follow a call setup using H.323 messages
  • Recognise the format/function of H.225.0
  • Recognise the format/function of H.245
